Living Big: A Blog in Many Acts

Living Big

Back in 2011, I dabbled in blogging—just five or six posts—and then, like many passing hobbies, it drifted off into memory. Recently, I found myself thinking about those early musings and went digging online… but all I could find was one post, a rather dramatic tale involving the rise and fall of a dear friend, the unforgettable Lois, Princess Radziwill.

Flash forward to 2025—and here I am, blogging again!

So, let’s start fresh.

I’m a proud 93-year-old gay man (94 this coming August 16th—mark your calendars!). I love birthdays and never miss a chance to throw a proper celebration. My usual tradition? A cozy dinner with twelve close friends at a favorite restaurant. A few years back, one of those dinners took place in a charming little gay spot in the Marais district of Paris (sadly now closed). That night turned out to be unexpectedly life-changing.

Seated next to me was one of my dearest French friends, Jean-Claude. As usual, I found myself sharing a few of my go-to stories—you know, the funny, ridiculous, “Did-that-really-happen?” kind. My friends always laugh and encourage me to tell more, even if I’ve told the same one three times already!

That evening, Jean-Claude leaned in and said something that stuck with me: “Larry, you have to write a book. Your life is magical.”

Well, that comment followed me all the way back to Los Angeles. Before long, I was jotting down little memories here and there, and what started as a few anecdotes turned into something much bigger. Fast forward to September 2024—and voilà! I published my memoir.

And now, with a book out in the world and more stories to share, I’m back to blogging. Let’s see where this new chapter takes us.
