Escaping L.A.: Day One
Matthew and I hopped on a quick United flight and, just two and a half hours later, landed in Bozeman, Montana—the gateway to the wild west. Picked up an SUV and hit the road to kick off our summer 2025 road trip.
That evening, we headed to Matthew’s cousin-in-law’s place for some pre-dinner drinks. He’s a musician, and a few other guys were there, also musicians, some related to Matthew, plus his oldest friend Ben and Ben’s daughter, Bella. After some catching up, we made our way to a lively little bistro for dinner and (of course) plenty of wine.
The next day was gorgeous—blue skies and fresh mountain air. We drove about an hour to Ennis Lake, where Ben has this stunning house perched above the water. It’s peaceful, surrounded by mountains, and the lake is full of trout. The barbecue was fired up, and between the altitude, the view, and the clean air, I felt completely refreshed. A perfect break from the chaos of Los Angeles.
All in all, a fantastic start to our road trip.
